Comic strips began apppearing in American newspaper in the late 19th century. In the 1930 's comic strips changed from the original humor to more adventurous types like Popeye and Tarzan. The Yellow Kid was the first comic strip in North America. Rodolphe Topffer is the father of basic comic strips.
