On October,16, 1968 at the Mexico City olympics games Tommie Smith and John Carlos 1st and 2nd place winners put on black leather gloves and then put there fist in the air. The meaning for that is that they are black panthers. Black panthers is really a civil right movements that black people has organized to fight against racism. The white man Peter Norman was actually with John and Tommie. Peter was a white guy from Austrailia. After that day Tommie and John was banned from the olympics, and when Peter got back to Austrailia he was critisized and scorned for being with them on the podium. Peter was an advocate to if you really thing about it. The picture says one thing, but you have to find out the truth for yourself.
